Strengthening migration programming from a gender perspective: Lessons learned

The overall goal of phase one of the Making Migration Safe for Women programme was to ensure that migration was safe and regular for all women migrating from, into, and through Niger, and that international norms and standards for protecting and promoting migrant women’s rights were strengthened.

This compilation of key lessons learned from phase one of the programme aims to support policymakers and practitioners in designing and implementing gender-responsive migration policies and programmes to ensure that they can contribute to advancing gender equality for all migrants and promote the empowerment of migrant women and girls at all stages of migration. Each of the seven lessons includes a concrete example of activities carried out as part of the programme.
