Regular resources report 2019: Forging Generation Equality now and in the future
In 2019 UN Women achieved phenomenal results thanks to the generosity of our partners who provide regular (core) resources and share in that success. UN Women’s regular resources generated more than USD 143 million in contributions from 119 partners, including 106 UN Member States. This report analyses how UN Women has used regular resource contributions to fulfil its normative, coordination, and operational activities.
These high-quality contributions are the lifeblood of UN Women’s interventions as the global champion of gender equality and women’s empowerment. They provide stability, offer flexibility, and ignite innovative programmes. Through the presentation of tangible results, this report presents case studies at the global, regional, and country levels to showcase the impact that regular resources have in the countries where UN Women is present.
Enabled by 2019 funding to regular resources, UN Women supported 102 countries to report on the 25 years since the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. Nuanced and tailored to diverse national contexts, each report covered trends, achievements, gaps, and challenges, providing evidence and direction for accelerating implementation of the platform and the Sustainable Development Goals. Moreover, UN Women’s mobilization of regular resources enabled the support to 94 per cent of the UN country teams’ reports to the CEDAW Committee.
The 2019 report recognises the value of regular resource contributions, as these unrestricted funds enable UN Women to continue as the only global institution fully dedicated to gender equality and women’s empowerment.
